Sheila is available for book clubs and fundraising events in Chicago and some suburbs. Sheila is also happy to Skype or FaceTime for groups at longer distances.

Description from the EPL website: "Evanston author Sheila Flaherty reads from her first novel East of Mecca. Drawn from her personal experiences while living in Saudi Arabia, her moving debut tells the tale of American expat Sarah's illicit friendship with a Saudi woman while offering an unflinching exploration of the true price of oppression. Flaherty will take questions and sign books following the reading, and copies of East of Mecca will be available to purchase with a portion of the proceeds going to the YWCA of Evanston.
Sheila Flaherty is a writer and clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. In 2010 and 2013, she was awarded residencies at The Ragdale Foundation for her work in fiction, and she has placed in various screenwriting competitions including BlueCat, CineStory, and the Nicholl Fellowships.
Part of the Muslim Journeys program and discussion series."
